Simply put, the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship covers the cost of a UC San Diego education, including housing and books, making it possible for families and students to avoid student loans.
Since its founding in 2013 by Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship provides “local, admitted, high-achieving students from underserved families with the opportunity to attend UC San Diego tuition-free and loan-free.” Providing $10,000 annually for up to four undergraduate years, the scholarship effectively provides a full scholarship to UC San Diego when paired with the University of California’s Blue + Gold Opportunity Plan (for California residents whose families earn less than $80,000 per year and qualify for financial aid).
Now, thanks to our generous supporters, our program has given more than 2,900 academic standouts the life-changing financial empowerment to attend our remarkable university, which ranks fourth in the nation for economic diversity. This year, we had 352 new scholars.
Our aspiring scholars need more than an open door to facilitate their success. To that end, the Chancellor’s Associates Scholars Program (CASP) was created to accompany the scholarship, ensuring our scholars receive the encouragement and advocacy they need to flourish throughout their time at UC San Diego.
Through the program, CASP scholars have access to numerous benefits to help them thrive at UC San Diego, including:
