In 1972 Senator Sam Ervin invited Barry Schochet to work as staff counsel on what would become the Senate Watergate Committee. For over a year he was part of the team that put together the committee hearings in the summer of 1973, selecting and interviewing witnesses, including Robert Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, John Dean, and Alexander Butterfield.
