Stanley M. Faer

Stanley M. Faer is a current member of the Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board which advocates for UC San Diego and advises the Chancellor, with specific emphasis on the university’s role in the community. He has also been a member of Chancellor’s Associates since 2007 and has chaired the program’s Faculty Excellence Awards Selection Committee.

As a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UC San Diego, he served three terms as President and two years as Treasurer. Osher Institute is an academic program for adults over the age of 50.

Faer has also been involved at UC San Diego as the current Co-Chair of UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center Patient and Family Council and a member of the Geisel Library Adversary Board. Outside of his UC San Diego involvement, Faer has served on numerous boards, including the Directors Guild of America.

Faer was employed by CBS Television for over 40 years, first in management, then as an Assistant Director. Additionally, he was a freelance director with his own production company. He is a recipient of an Emmy Award and the Directors Guild of America Franklin J. Schaffner Lifetime Achievement Award.
