John C. Shannon ’86

John Shannon never intended to become so deeply involved in community groups, boards and committees. However his desire to improve his surroundings and a belief that “it does matter” pulled him into service years ago. John is a UC San Diego alumnus having earned a BS in engineering, an MS in engineering from Stanford, an MBA and Teaching Credential from SDSU, and a PMP Certificate. A 20-year career with Hewlett-Packard helped him develop his teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills. He currently works in residential and commercial real estate and recently founded a real estate firm, Solace Realty, Inc. where he acts as Broker.

Shannon enjoys being engaged in the community and solving problems. He is the former Chair of the Pacific Beach Planning Group, and is a current member of the Morena Corridor Specific Plan Ad Hoc subcommittee, the Balboa Trolley Station Ad Hoc subcommittee, the La Jolla Parks and Beaches Advisory Committee, the Coastal Coalition, and is a Director on the PB Town Council. Shannon is an advisor to beautifulPB, a board member of San Diego Association of REALTORS® Government Affairs Committee, and has recently been elected to Trustee for La Jolla Community Planning Association.

Shannon actively supports *Walkable Communities, *Locally Owned Small Businesses, and *Park and Beach Accessibility.
