Dan Masters

Dan Masters is an attorney specializing in bankruptcy including corporate debtors in Chapter 11 Reorganizations. He’s also worked to negotiate public offerings, private placements, mergers, acquisitions, and listings.

Prior to his work as an attorney, Masters was a Corporate Finance Officer in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. As CEO of a venture capital firm and Portfolio Manager at another, Masters financed primarily computer hardware and software based companies, as well as negotiated and managed IPOs, private placements, mergers and acquisitions. He served as Chairman and investment banker at a brokerage firm with approximately 150 licensees and was Vice President of Finance and CFO at a $1 billion (assets) holding company. Masters also worked as a securities consultant in Toronto, Vancouver, and San Diego.

He was a Legislative Aid to Senator Abraham Ribicoff, Congressman Mark Hannaford, and California Assemblyman Larry Kapiloff and also served as a speech writer to Senator Ted Kennedy and Vice Presidential candidate Sargent Shriver. Masters also worked as an Executive Assistant to University of California President David Saxon.

Masters received his AB in Government from Harvard University and his JD from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He is a past president of the Harvard Club of San Diego and has served on several community boards including: Compact for Success, the Stein Institute for Research on Aging and the UC San Diego School of Medicine. He has been a member of UC San Diego’s Chancellor’s Associates since 2012.
